About You
The Barclays spring week was a really enjoyable experience. Being in the PCB&B division, throughout the week we given a range of tasks to complete, including a team presentation, networking and team building exercises. To add to this, there was a dedicated day, where we shadowed employees in different divisions of PCB&B, which gave me an insight into the possible career paths at Barclays, this was something I really enjoyed.
From the first day of the spring week everyone on the programme was very friendly and approachable. I felt valued at Barclays as everyone was given a chance to express their views and nobody was left out of team tasks. By the end of the week everyone knew each other and it felt like a family.
There was plenty of guidance and support provided throughout the week, any questions asked to the recruiters were answered in a friendly and effective manner. The Barclays spring week app, provided an overview of what we would be doing throughout the week, providing helpful hits and tips, to have a successful spring week.
The skills I gained from this spring week are skills for life. This spring week has enhanced my networking, communication and team building skills. The skills and information gained from this spring week will help in my future studies as it has improved my time management skills, as well as helped me to start building a network of contacts.
The Company
The spring week was very well structured, each day we where given a timetable of what we would be doing. The Barclays spring week app, also showed this providing an overview of each session, allowing us to comment and rate how well we like each session. The app also provided information about what we would need to bring in each day, which was hugely beneficial.
The general atmosphere in the spring week was friendly, fun and open. During the spring week everyone was welcoming and engaging. By shadowing employees at Barclays, this provided an insight into the open and friendly atmosphere within Barclays, which was a key reason in why the spring week was so enjoyable.
The spring week provide an extremely helpful overview of the culture of Barclays. Getting to see the five key values (respect, integrity, service, excellence and stewardship) implemented on a day to day basis, highlighted the open and friendly culture at Barclays, making it a very enjoyable spring week and place to work.
Everything Else
Paid £250 for the week.
The networking events provided throughout the week were very beneficial. Throughout the week we got to speak to a range of different employees at Barclays, getting to understand the vital role everyone has. There was also an evening networking event, where all the spring interns from all the different divisions got to network and talk to different employees.
The networking and social opportunities during the spring week were very good. Evening networking sessions were set up so we could talk to other spring interns and different employees. At the end other spring week, the majority of the spring interns, went out to socialise which was very enjoyable and helped to build a network of contacts.
Absolutely I would recommend this spring week to a friend, as it provide a well structured insight into the the different opportunities at Barclays, allowed me to build a strong network of contacts and gain greater understanding of what I may do in the future and learn more about the different divisions within Barclays.
