The Role
I learnt a lot of industry specific skills but also improved more general work-based skills. A friendly atmosphere made it easy to do so.
Everyone was really friendly encouraging me to join in with their quirky traditions.
My supervisor was always very honest with me, which I appreciated, and always made themself available to help me on any of my queries.
My work load varied from having numerous pieces of work to not having anything. A group project issued at the start of the internship ensured I always had something to do when I didn't have any work.
Although everything (calculations, letters etc) were all checked and reviewed before being issued I found I was dealing with Clients directly and had my name on finished items.
I was continually learning new skills. Additionally I attended scheduled conference calls for all the interns to teach us more about the company and the industry.
The Company
Everyone was very busy but still made the effort to get to know you.
Days at the start and end of the internship for all the interns were well run and very productive. When I arrived at my workplace I was instantly shown my desk and given a computer with passwords already set up.
The company set up conference calls for all interns to inform them more about the company.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
There were three interns in my office alone this year and so employment prospects depend on how many graduate positions are available.
The Culture
Never having been to Leeds before I didn't know what to expect but it definitely exceeded anything I could ever have predicted.
Leeds is a lively city where there's always something happening.
Being a big city I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities for activities outside of work but only being here for 8 weeks I never really made an effort to find any.
