About You
I enjoyed that it was very organised and I was well looked after.
I could easily approach and speak to anyone
There was always someone around I could ask questions to.
I learnt teamwork skills and business background information which is unique to other people studying my degree.
The Company
The activities were organised well except for a restaurant outing in which all of us did not get any food.
Everyone was very friendly and approachable.
In terms of personal training and development, the company invested a lot. They gave us free food , bowling and a restaurant outing. The company also gave us a free hotel and free travel. For this reason because we were well looked after, we could be comfortable in terms of personal training and development.
The extent that the insight helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role was that, we were able to work shadow workers in order to get an insight towards the company. The was even opportunities to talk to graduates and interns for their opinion.
The fact that the workers seemed very friendly, chatty and happy with their job was how much the insight helped me to understand the company culture. I also noticed the company was very multicultural with people from different backgrounds. Due to this , people can bring different ideas and perspectives.
The fact that the company showed us a variety of paths that we could take at JP Morgan made the content of the day in helping me to decide on my future career path very valuable. I learnt roles not only in the technology sector but also in finance and markets. This proved to be very interesting because I had never thought of this before.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed everything from food, travel and accommodation. I was provided breakfast, lunch and usually dinner as well. The food quality was very good and tasty. There was also healthy options available. The travel was adequate and got me to the work centre well. The hotel was very good with a large room. However the hotel WiFi was very poor and could have been much better.
Yes there were opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm through work shadowing employees and meeting other interns and graduates. I was able to ask a variety of questions to all these types of employees. All of my questions were answered and I learnt much about their roles.
The social / networking opportunities included bowling and a restaurant outing. They offered us bowling and a restaurant outing however the restaurant could have been better. There was food provided with bowling however I do not think it was enough. It was a few plates of food like a buffet but it would have been better if we could each order. The same with the restaurant.
I did not find out much about what employees can do outside of work because the emphasis was more about opportunities that employees can do within the company. We learnt that employees had various opportunities within the company and for this reason they do not need to be fixed in one position.
Yes I would recommend this insight to a friend because it was very enjoyable and I learnt a lot. I was not expecting this insight to offer so much and after the insight I feel like I really want to work for the company because it has everything I want a company to have that I would like to work for.
