The Role
The internship was very enjoyable and there is always a lot to do to keep you busy. Though you may not think it there is nothing worse than having nothing to do, but there was always work to be done which was good. The internship was well planned and the people very friendly and willing to help.
Great. My team was fabuluos! Everyone was extremely helpful and would go out of their way to help me and make sure I understood what was going on. Without a doubt the best thing I found about BlackRock was the people.
Again, my manager was great. Always willing to help and when she was busy she made sure that she passed me on to someone who could help. She regularly set up sessions with me just to see how I was doing if she was busy. She gave a lot of support and guidance.
First couple weeks was training as learning (as expected) but actually contributed to work the team was doing as time progressed
As what I study and the division I was working in to not directly relate I do not feel that it would assist my degree very much. However, as for future working life it was a fantastic experience and I definitely built up a strong set of computer skills that will be valuable in the future.
The Company
People worked hard but are extremely friendly! They don't take themselves to seriously and it is a very collaborative atmosphere.
Well structured, quite a few intern events and a lot of lunch and learns which were interesting.
I had a lot of training in the first few weeks to gain developer rights
Subsidised Canteen
Definitely a chance to get a job with the organisation after. I don't know yet but the scheme is set up provide jobs with those who excel so there is definitely a chance.
