About You
The Insight is 5-day long, and it is perfect length to have an insight of J.P. Morgan. I really enjoyed the Spring Week for several reasons: The Spring Week Insight gave us the chance to discover J.P. Morgan in depth, and to see if the bank suited us. It is a two-way process, and I particularly appreciated that. The Spring Week was characterized by presentations and overviews of the different divisions, always followed by a Q&A, but there were also a lot of opportunities to network and to ask as many questions as you want. We had also an oral presentation in the major auditorium on a given subject to practice our communication skills. I loved the two different rotations in specific desks (shadowing session) and finally I had a lot of fun during a lot of events in the evening to make new friends as well other games and workshops like a trading game for instance. The entire HR team that accompanied every interns was really friendly and was always there if we had any question to ask them. The Analysts and also the more Senior persons were also there to answer your questions at networking events. Nobody is judging us, there is not any silly question to ask and I loved that. The two rotations that the program offer us to attend are great opportunities to discover what can be our future job and to see what it really feels like to work on a specific desk such as trading floor for instance. The week is so intense that you will not be able to see the time goes by and I think J.P. Morgan really gives us the opportunity to get the most of our Spring Week.
Everybody (the HR, the Analysts and the more Senior persons) is trying to help you as much as possible, by answering your questions, by making you learn about the job and about themselves. They want also to discover you in details, because they want to build a strong relationship with you. You will also develop strong relationships with your colleagues for sure. The entire organization is designed so that you can to feel great and is is really something cool. Nobody is judging you, that is why I think it is a unique opportunity. At the end of the week you will want definitely to work for J.P. Morgan.
During the entire Spring week in J.P. Morgan I received a lot of support. Mainly two types of support: First, the HR support, which is there to answer the questions you ask them on the hiring process, on the company, on the activities ... (There are even sessions planed in the Auditorium for doing that). Second, the operational support: through the networking events and during the two rotations on two different desks that we had the opportunity to do, we had the opportunity to ask as many things as we wanted. Even after the Spring Week, you can build a network to stay in touch with the analysts to ask them questions for instance.
I think I learnt that trough this type of program at J.P. Morgan, I learnt more in a week that I did in a semester. Why? Because there nothing is theory, you just have to ask something to discover the answer. Thanks to the rotations you can really discover the job in depth and this is something unique. I enhanced my knowledge in financial markets during the presentations and when I asked questions. It is really important to ask as many questions as you want to shed the light on anything subjects that you consider as grey zones. I also reinforced my communication skills since you have to communicate with a lot of people (colleagues, HR, Analysts...). And I think all of that will definitely assist me not only in my current degree study but also beyond.
The Company
The Insight was very well structured. At the beginning of the Spring Week, we received an agenda with all the details. The activities were very diversified (presentations, Q&A, rotations on several desks, trading games and games in the evenings...) at not any moment I felt annoyed by the different activity and you can feel a progression during the activities during the week. At the end, interviews are organized to prepare you for the Summer Internship the following year.
The general atmosphere was well! It is very easy to make new friend coming from all around the world. The candidate are selected with a great level of energy and enthusiasm. The HR team is always there in case of questions and are very friendly. Every evening we have a different activities and games in team, which helps to meet new people in a sympathetic atmosphere.
J.P. Morgan definitely invested a lot on us. I think the bank is considering its employees as their more important assets. The Analysts, Associates and Senior people are able to dedicate their time for you, and I think it is pretty unique! They will show you, many times, how important you are, through their different high-standard activities. By the way, J.P. Morgan covers all our expenses and that is a strong point in my opinion.
We had a unique opportunity to understand the culture of J.P. Morgan, which is mainly based on the idea of integrity. There is a strong corporate culture in the firm. J.P. Morgan is also characterized by the loyalty of the employees, and the bank invests a lot on them. During this week, you will understand how J.P. Morgan differentiates itself from other banks.
Everything Else
There were a lot of networking opportunities, I would say at least 5 during the week. There, you can meet a lot of professionals coming from different backgrounds, working in different divisions and on different asset-classes. There are great opportunities to ask as many questions as you want and to show them your interest for the firm. I think they will really give you back the interest you are showing them!
Yes definitely. The Spring Week is intense and can really be a plus, for you, for your CV and for finding your way. The entire week is spent within a friendly environment with a lot a diversify activities, a lot of opportunities to learn things on the industry and to grow as a person. If you are determined, do not hesitate to apply as soon as you can!
