UBS Spring Insight Week Review

The insight week at UBS was exactly as it was described to be- an insight into all of the different divisions in an a global bank with interactive workshops into the different areas that people may be looking to join. I absolutely enjoyed the experience as it involved a variety of different presenters from managing directors to recent graduates and allowed for a lot of Q&A time to explore each sector further.

I can confidently say that everyone that we interacted with throughout the week made us feel very welcome to be a part of UBS and proud to have made it this far after the application process. Each presenter really made a point of addressing how valuable graduates were and the contribution we can make to a global firm like UBS.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly and approachable so there was absolutely no point during the week where I felt lost or unable to ask for help. Each speaker following the presentation really valued our questions and made sure to provide clarification on any points that we were unsure about.

I think the insight week helped me understand not only what career prospects were available but what would be of interest to me. It allowed me to enhance my ability to analyse and ask questions and additionally, the networking opportunities allowed for me to develop interpersonal skills not only with other students but with members of staff as well.

The week was incredibly well organised and structured with a timetable of each day provided in our Welcome Handbooks. The structure of the insight made the whole process less daunting. In addition, there was consistent guidance and support provided during the insight week which made the whole experience very enjoyable.

There was a great atmosphere throughout the whole week for all of us who attended the insight week. There was lots of opportunity for networking activities where every graduate, speaker, and the organisers gave us to the chance to get to know them better and gain insight into their experiences at UBS.

The insight week really helped us understand what options were available to us in the future. In terms of personal training and development, the UBS insight week was tailored to ensure that we understood the responsibility and nature role, while ensuring that the learning experience was interactive and fun for us.

The UBS insight week provided an insight not only into the different sectors, but to the culture and people of the firm. Additionally, through work shadowing opportunities, the insight week for me personally has definitely confirmed my motivations to work at UBS as well as the division that I applied for.

The company culture was a value that really stuck out to be to be of paramount importance to the firm and was shared across every person that I encountered throughout the week. You could definitely tell during the insight week that every employee at UBS really embraces the company culture.

The content of the day was definitely the most valuable information provided throughout the insight week. The whole week was packed with different speakers from each division and really provided an understanding of the nature of the role, the responsibilities, and the contribution each sector has on the bank. This was key in helping me decide on my future career path, but also provided an opportunity for people to consider other choices that they would otherwise have been unaware of.

My accommodation was within the M25 so I was not paid or reimbursed any expenses.

Yes, lots of networking opportunities such as networking lunches as well as opportunities for Q&A after every speaker presentation. Additionally, we also had a chance to work shadow an employee for 4 and a half hours which really was valuable for us to gain a first hand experience of the nature of the work we applied for.

The networking and social events were very enjoyable, there was a large group of us so the events really gave us a chance to get to know everyones background and aspirations for the future. We also had numerous opportunities to interact with graduates who were able to give us advice on the whole process.

Yes, there was lots of actives that employees could partake in outside of work. We could tell from the insight week that many people were passionate about volunteering schemes and the "societies" that people were a part of.

I would definitely recommend the UBS insight week to any friend. It is a valuable experience for everyone who wants to gain an insight into the different sectors as well as understand the reality of the responsibilities each role involved. Everyone was friendly and I met a lot of really kind people on this course.
