The Role
There was always something different to do, new people to talk to and new aspects of the business to discover. It gave me a real taste for the corporate environment and loads of transferrable skills which will be a huge benefit when applying for jobs.
Everyone was very welcoming and always happy to answer any questions. I was allowed to work on real projects and wasn't stuck doing the work no-one else wanted to! My work wasn't just taken as granted either, but actively appreciated.
I was given a run-down of the overall business and the recruitment process right at the start and then given plenty of support and tips during my internship to enable me to do the job well and contribute to the team.
Some days were pretty hectic, but I enjoyed that because it gave me real experience of the job and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
I was given real responsibilities and really felt like part of the team. By the start of the second week I was already conducting phone interviews and conversing with colleagues in offices across the world.
The ability to communicate with people on a professional level, work as part of a team as well as independently, knowledge of the recruitment process from 'the other side', and the ability to handle several projects at the same time will definitely stand me in good stead for my future career.
The Company
Some days were quieter than others, but there were always people to talk to, and plenty of cakes and chocolates to eat! The overall atmosphere was friendly and inclusive.
At the start of the internship there was an induction which gave an overview of every aspect of the company and a very good grounding in how the business is run. There were presentations from every department and also from a client, which gave an outside view of the company.
I was able to visit other departments, attend meetings and carry out e-learning courses. Everyone was very willing to do everything they could to ensure I got the most out of my time at SAP.

I would definitely look into a job with SAP, though perhaps not in recruitment - not because I didn't enjoy my time there but because I feel my career lies elsewhere. Because I was able to visit other departments whilst at SAP, I now have a better idea of what I'm looking for in a job, and the skills that will enable me to get a job that I will enjoy.
The Culture
There were a fairly large number of interns all starting at the same time, so there was a good social scene on that front. But there were also company events, such as a football tournament, which were a lot of fun and allowed me to meet people from other departments that I might not otherwise have had the chance to know.
To be honest, I don't actually know! It seemed reasonable enough.
There are plenty of towns nearby that give a great night out, and also have lovely restaurants and cafes.
There are a number of outside-work events put on throughout the year for SAP employees and there are also opportunities to get involved in CSR initiatives.
