About You
It was really good to get to know like minded people who all had the same interest. The talks we received were very informative and fulfilled the title of the programme; 'an insight'. There was also lots of opportunity for interaction with peers involving business challenges which again provided a great opportunity to learn new skills.
I definitely felt valued. Not only were we wanting to impress KPMG in the various challenges, tasks and assessments but it was also an opportunity for KPMG to sell themselves as a place of work. Every person I spoke to was extremely friendly and eager to answer questions that we had. KPMG really sold itself as a company to join in the future. There was a real emphasis on work life balance.
The whole programme revolved around guidance and support. Essentially we received an insight into all possible business areas within the company. We received lots of opportunities to ask questions, not just in talks but also through networking as well.
The skills we learnt in personal brand and presenting will be extremely useful through university and beyond. The information we received will be of paramount importance when it comes to making internship/job decisions. It was extremely useful to gain an insight into the daily lives of people who work there hence why the information we received was so relevant.
The Company
Very well structured. The programme ran as promised and ran extremely well to timing. There was the perfect balance of listening to talks, interaction with peers through challenges and interaction with current employees.
Extremely friendly not just between the students but also between the employees. Everyone who works there seems to love their job and also the people they work with.
We received 20 minute talks from graduates within different departments. This enabled us to learn about what sort of work the job would entail but most importantly we learnt what an actual 'day in the life of......' would generally involve. The latter being extremely useful as it was company specific.
Within a very small time frame the company values were reinforced. However throughout the insight, the culture was clear; work hard and apply yourself and this will be recognised by the company. There was a real emphasis on work life balance.
The talks were extremely valuable. They enabled me to decide which department I would work in should I gain an internship.
Everything Else
Reimbursed up to £50 per day for travel.
Yes, 2 hours were dedicated to networking in the evening on the first day to ask current E/D grades questions.
Good fun but also very informative. Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly but was also willing to answer in detail about any relevant questions. If they were not able to give an answer they would always point you in the direction of someone they believed who would be able to help.
There are lots of opportunities for employees. KPMG heavily support employees in volunteering. KPMG also has sports teams which are part of leagues with other financial services firms.
Absolutely - the information I received will be invaluable when it comes to decision making on internships. The insight was also made more enjoyable with business challenges, tasks and presentations.
