About You
I found it very interesting and helpful gaining an insight into the different sectors, the individual sessions worked well. One aspect I didn't however enjoy was the forced environment of the frequent networking. Whilst meeting employees was both insightful and useful, I think there could have been more efficient and pleasant ways of doing this
As one of 105 it is hard to feel that valued, but the HR staff and the employees I met were all extremely friendly and welcoming
The individual sessions were very helpful in allowing me to learn more about the work that takes places in each sector. I think it would have been useful to have more of the careers fair style networking as opposed to networking in a tight space where it is hard to find employees that you want to talk to
The week has provided me with an idea of what I would like to do in the future which has been extremely helpful. We didn't really learn any specific skills as there was no actual work involved
The Company
I liked how the week was split up into different sessions, all of which were about the right length.
The staff were very friendly, most of the students were also friendly. There was however an environment whereby individuals where trying to intimidate other candidates through the asking of complex questions or continual business talk - the bank however cannot do much about this
It was extremely useful to gain an insight into the different sectors of the bank, we didn't learn any specific skills or were subject to any training but it was only an insight week so I don't think any of us were expecting any sort of development.
Over the week we had the opportunity to meet a lot of different employees allowing us to hear their views on working for BAML. The week was also a great opportunities to gage the atmosphere of the work place - an atmosphere I found very friendly and stimulating.
The opportunity to the learn about the business and talk to a number of different employees provided me with a great opportunity to understand the culture of BAML
The insight into the different areas and opportunity to talk to employees allowed me to form insightful and reasoned views on a career in investment banking and one in the particular sectors. I found it a very helpful and useful opportunity
Everything Else
We were told to purchase a rail card, I haven't emailed to be reimbursed but I plan to do so and hope that I will be fairly reimbursed
I particularly enjoyed the dinner as it provided a friendly and easy way to meet and chat with the employees
Too many 'networking events' - I feel that there was too much of an emphasis on creating contacts, it would have been more useful to have had the chance to meet employees in less of a tight and intense space as is often the case at drink receptions (some of the students on the week were quite competitive when it came to finding and taking to the employees)
Really interesting to hear about the different networks and the charity projects that BAML are involved in
A really useful insight week, I enjoyed myself and met some people who I can see myself staying friends with for a long time !! It did well to combine the work aspects with fun and sufficient opportunities to socialise with those on the week with us.
