About You
Thoroughly enjoyed this insight week. Not only was I able to meet lots of new people, through the numerous networking events but I was also able to find out about all the different lines of business the banks has in a high level to detail. Everybody was friendly and answered all the questions we had.
During this week, I felt very valued by not just the other students on the insight week but also by all the employees of the bank. Everybody happily took the time to answer all of our questions, and to explain their role in the bank and their service line in depth.
I received plenty of guidance and support during the insight week. The numerous networking events allowed us to find out as much about different roles available in the firm as we wanted to, to help us create a clear judgement of what service line we would like to apply for. Again, everybody happily answered any questions that we had which further adding to the guidance this insight week offered.
This insight week has defiantly improved my networking skills, through the numerous networking events we had every day and the presentation skills workshop we had. It has also enabled me to find out about all the different roles available in the bank to help make a decision of where what service line I would like to work in.
The Company
The insight week was very well structured. We got given a timetable a few weeks before we started which I found very useful and the timings were generally stuck too. My day in corporate audit was definitely well structured as they gave us a clear timeline of the different activities of the day before we started.
There was a very friendly general atmosphere during the insight week. Everybody was easily approachable and I was able to ask questions to anybody I wanted to. Even during the assessment centre on the last day, there was a very friendly and calm atmosphere which helped to calm nerves during the process.
At this stage, there is no training required as we have not entered a specific line of business yet. However, a lot of time was taken to help us find out about the different service lines, a lot of people took quite a lot of time off their own work to attend the networking events and help us to find out more about the bank.
There was a lot of emphasis on not just focusing on the job role, but they also explained a lot about the different committees to get involved in such as the Womans Leadership Council and how you can get involved in charities. I would have liked to work shadow more, as I only got to work shadow for an hour throughout the entire week,as that would have made me understand more of what it would be like to have a full time role with the bank.
The insight week defiantly helped me understand the company culture, not just through the networking events where I was able to ask employees of the bank, but also by hearing about the different committees there are to get involved in and also the different charity work there is to get involved in. Talking to the employees helped me to understand the company culture on a work-life balance.
Every day was very very valuable on helping be to decide for my future career path, as the numerous networking events allowed me to meet everyone from every business line of the bank. However, I wish time could have been better spent in allowing us to spend time in more than two lines of business, and would have also enjoyed more time work shadowing
Everything Else
There was plenty of opportunities for networking throughout the entire week. There was networking events set up everyday of the week, as well as a networking dinner. This allowed me to meet employees from all lines of business of the bank and also allowed me to meet many graduates which was very useful.
Networking events were very good
