About You
Really useful to gain an insight into an industry that is very hard to understand, in terms of working life, from reading literature or even talking to solicitors.
Very clear that you are there to learn and not really able to be an asset, but they are very welcoming and include you as an observer on important matters. They also give everyone the chance to interview for a training contract.
Wholly dependent on your supervisor and trainee buddy. My first supervisor did not give much guidance and I had to get the graduate recruitment team's help but my second was absolutely welcoming and open.
It will help me approach the GDL with a different mindset - I will be trying to keep a more commercial context in mind as I learn the theoretical side of the law. One negotiations skills workshop was also very informative.
The Company
Very well.
Very enjoyable, especially liked getting to meet the other vacation students and felt that we had an opportunity to get to know each other well.
Lots of face time with senior associate/partner as you sit with them and one development workshop
More useful than anything else I have done to this point.
As long as you took advantage of numerous opportunities to talk to people, enormously.
Extremely.
