    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much enjoyed my time at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The Insight is a great opportunity for those who have an interest in the investment banking industry and want to find out more about the industry as a whole. What is great about the program is the exposure - you are given the opportunity to connect and meet with employees from the different lines of business within the bank.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As much as you want - if you start the week with the intention of learning as much as you can, there is nothing stopping you. As I mentioned above, you have the possibility to ask the employees whatever you want and they are more than happy to take the time to speak to you. Al in all, I received a lot of support

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I enhanced my skills needed to succeed after attending the Spring Program. The bank is really looking for a diverse group of people and they stress heavily that they want people from various disciplines. I definitely honed the skills needed to help my career and in my language degree too with the various presentations and stock pitches.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Highly structured. Everything was organised for us and we knew exactly what was going to be happening everyday whether we were shadowing desks, taking part in trading games or listening to senior bankers speak about their careers. The programs were highly structured but we were given the freedom to network with employees from nearly every division.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • General atmosphere was very good. Everyone was highly approachable and friendly. I would highly recommend the Insight Program to anyone that has an interest in the industry but wants to learn more.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot - we took part in a lot of exercises designed to enhance our understanding of the industry - case studies with various lines of business, skills sessions, trading games, networking sessions, and a networking dinner with representatives from your preferred division. Work shadowing gave us the opportunity to learn about what the employees do on a day to day basis

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Significantly. As a modern languages major and without much exposure to finance, it was difficult to truly understand what life was like in a bank. We were given the chance to speak to employees and ask them whatever we wanted about their experience in the bank, allowing us to understand what life is truly like

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot - it is difficult to truly understand the values of any company until you work there - the insight allows you to understand the core values of the company and the culture

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Valuable. This reinforced my interest in joining the investment banking industry.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Plenty - there were networking events nearly everyday.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Highly insightful - not only were we exposed to members of the bank who had been for some time but also employees who were similar in age to us and recently joined the bank. This was highly useful as this gave us the opportunity to ask them about the recruitment process and how they got there.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. Various volunteering opportunities, support groups etc..

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 100%
