About You
Very enjoyable - enjoyed the range of activities, not only sessions about the Bank but also more general sessions, such as on presentation skills
All employees of the Bank at networking events seemed interested in speaking to the interns
Much guidance and support - found it particularly valuable to speak with a range of people, from those on the graduate programmes up to MDs
Insight into the lines of business and into professional working environment more generally has been invaluable in highlighting what I need to work on, both in terms of knowledge about the finance industry and character traits
The Company
Very structured - programme was clearly set out at the beginning of the week, and even logistical information was emailed prior to the week
Very inspiring and exciting - clearly people from all lines of business enjoyed working at the Bank. The range of activities showcased a rounded environment to the firm, employees do not just work at the Bank but they socialise and volunteer at the Bank.
Ran an enjoyable session on presentation skills on the first day, as well as guiding us through the process and approach to work during case study sessions
Particularly found the case study sessions useful. The sessions within some lines of business were more interactive than others, may have allowed a better understanding if there was some first-hand experience (work-shadowing, talking to graduates) within more lines of business.
Numerous networking opportunities allowed a deep understanding of the culture and learning of their previous career experiences, particularly within other financial institutions, made it clear what stood Bank of America Merrill Lynch apart from the rest
Very valuable - again, may have been more beneficial to have some first-hand experience within all lines of business rather than a series of only lectures
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed
Numerous and varied, some informal sessions during lunch to a sit-down dinner
Well organised and structured - for example, during the dinner, members of HR came round and ensured that employees changed seats so that interns had the opportunity to speak to a variety of people
Special session on the fourth day devoted to this - clearly a wide range of activities, including sports, volunteering and social occasions
Absolutely - learnt a great deal
