About You
The Bank of America Merrill Lynch Spring Insight week proved to be very informative as well as enjoyable. The week commenced with a few presentations such as ‘What is an Investment Bank’ as well as some skill sessions before moving towards our division specific sessions. I enjoyed the thorough insight the division specific sessions provided.
Throughout the week all employees at all levels were extremely approachable and always willing to answer questions. HR took the time to organise some fantastic social events throughout the week such as a networking meals and drinks. The importance of new talents all from diverse backgrounds was stressed throughout the week.
There were several networking events throughout the week which allowed participants to freely ask questions. However, guidance was mainly received during the division specific sessions. These sessions tended to be fairly intense, although time was always allowed for questions. HR also gave all participants a session in how to prepare for assessment centres, which proved to be very helpful.
Early on in the week, a presentation skills session was run, which provided the participants with key skills in how to present in an exciting engaging manner. In addition, throughout the division specific case studies, participants were taught how to dissect key bits of information and to articulate this to others. I have certainly left this week feeling more well rounded and aware of how to develop my skillset.
The Company
The insight week was extremely well structured; time was always allowed for questions. In addition, besides the division specific workshops and presentations, time was always allowed for networking often during lunch or before the start of the day. Participants were rarely found with spare time on their hands. The week was well balanced offering a real feel for how BAML operate.
All participants and employees were extremely friendly throughout. No matter how senior employees were, all were always happy to offer their time and to take questions. In addition, employees also took time to get to know the spring participants and actively involve them in the division specific sessions. The week was fast paced but enjoyable throughout.
All employees took time to discuss what skills their jobs required and how to develop these skills.
A thorough insight was recieved. However my particular divisions did lack to opportunity for any work shadowing.
The company's culture within the bank as well as its global outlook was expressed to us in several presentations as well as through networking with current employees.
A real insight into the life of an investment banker was received.
