About You
On the Barclays Group Functions Spring Week, there was a fantastic mix of networking events (with both graduates and senior members of the bank), insight into group functions (including risk, finance, treasury, marketing and HR) and work shadowing.
Barclays culture really seems to be implemented throughout the organisation. All workers act with respect and afford the interns their full time and attention.
There were multiple points of contact throughout the organisation; your pre allocated buddy (although a formal introduction may have been useful - nonetheless I enjoyed that the onus was on the intern to make contact), your programme leaders and any graduates you met either at networking events of work shadowing
Although the learning won't feed directly into my degree, the amount of technical information I learnt about the group functions, and more general knowledge about how the different functions within a bank interact with one-another, was outstanding. Nonetheless, the knowledge gained will be infinitely useful in any future career in the financial services.
