The Role
As an internship, it was fantastic - the people were great, the HR team did everything they could to help you with networking. However it was the Investment Banking hours which made this a struggle for me.
I was included in all the team going out evenings and treated just like another member of the team who was already employed.
I was given one-on-one support and help throughout my internship
A strange mix of either having too much work or not enogh - but that is investment banking foryou, not Macquarie
I was doing work that was actually being sent to clients/ cheif execs.
Apart from the financial skills(eg modelling) I did learn many other more general skills like attention to detail, powerpoint, research, tenacity and perseverance at 2am in the morning...!
The Company
Lots of fun, Macquarie is a great place to work; they really value you, there are drinks on a friday at 5, table tennis, a great kitchen/ social area, flat screen tvs, and they party as hard as they work
The HR team were fantastically supportive, and ararnged lots of events for us and kepy constantly intouch with us to make sure we were ok.
They obviously iinvested money in us ( we were paid) and to the extent that I was given one-on-one suport from an analyst who otherwise would be earning money for the team by working on a deal.
Company Parties/Events
I don't know if I have a job with them yet, but if I wanted to be an investment banker I would 100% go for this bank; flat pack structure, lots of support, fun, laid back atmosphere compared to other American investment banks.
The Culture
The other interns were lovely, I've defiantely made lots of friends and everyone is really supportive of each other
London prices....
Again, London!
I didn't have that much time as any time off was spent sleeping!
