    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Rothschild. I not only learnt a lot at Global Financial Advisory and what it entails but also about the company and different sectors and opportunities within Rothschild. Furthermore everyone, especially the HR team, was so friendly and welcoming which made the week even better.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Whenever we had the opportunity to speak to someone within the company they always asked us questions about how our week had been and what we had been doing which made me feel valued throughout the were. The friendly atmosphere is a testament to Rothschild and clearly valued by all, shown by many employees having spent their whole career at the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a lot of support on offer throughout the week. Mainly it came from the HR team who spent everyday with us and were always there to answer any queries. As they were so friendly, it made them very approachable so we could talk to them if we had an problems. We spent two sessions shadowing analysts who also offered guidance to us by answering any questions whether they were to do with future careers or pointers for our group project

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • By undertaking a group project I was able to develop essential skills needed for the future. As we had quite a short amount to time to put together our projects we had to divide up tasks, be supportive and cooperative with our team members all whilst producing a high quality section of our own. One morning was spent working on presentation skills and another activity was based on interview skills. Both of these have left me with life long skills I can use at university and beyond.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was incredibly well structured. Our schedules were completely full of different and engaging activities. We always knew what we were doing/where we should be. The week had a good balance of talks, work shadowing, case studies and a group project which meant the week was always interesting. One morning was spent volunteering which was thoroughly enjoyable, helped a good cause and meant we weren't sitting in the same room all day everyday.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a great atmosphere throughout the week as all the people on the insight got on really well and were friendly and supportive towards others. Our activities were always interesting and those running the activities were friendly and happy which meant I had a great week. The last day especially was nice as everyone knew each other by this point and presenting our group project made me feel like I had achieved something throughout the week.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • One morning was dedicated to presentation skills with an outside company that Rothschild had bought it. Not only was the skills session very enjoyable and a way to get to know other insight week attendees it was incredibly helpful and provided valuable advice, There was also another session on interview skills which offered advice not just for a Rothschild interview but valuable tips any future interviews.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • One of the main things I took away from the week is what a great company Rothschild is to work at. It was so friendly and supportive which can be attributed to its family-owned aspect. The work seems challenging but also rewarding and intellectually stimulating. I was struck at how much responsibility analysts are given right from when they start at the company.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave me an insight to what it would be like to work at Rothschild as I was able to speak to many people at a number of different levels and they all said similar things. They described Rothschild as a friendly and supportive company to work for where value is placed on working together and not on your own to get ahead.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was informative and helped me when thinking about future career paths for myself. There were so many chances to talk to employees from all divisions and at different points in their career which meant any questions I had were answered. Also the talks we had were informative about the different divisions within GFA and always had a Q&A section at the end.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were multiple networking opportunities. On the first day there was an informal lunch with analysts which gave us the chance to ask them about internships and grad jobs, also their first impressions of the company and to see how much responsibility they had been given right from the start. There was also a session with multiple directors and partners which was a great opportunity. Most of them had spent their whole career at Rothschild and were able to tell us about all the things they had done there.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • On the first day there were drinks organised just for those on the Spring Insight away from the office which was a nice way to finish the first day. This gave me the chance to speak to people I hadn't yet and get to know the people I was spending the week with. The Rothschild insight programme is smaller than the others but I believe that this makes it better as there is a chance to meet and work with everyone on the programme in a friendlier environment.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There seem to be lots of opportunities for volunteering at Rothschild who are active in supporting local charities and giving back to the communality. During the week there was a morning of volunteering which was lots of fun and a chance to get to know people better whilst helping a good cause. One of the analysts mentioned a Rothschild football team for employees as well.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would highly recommend this insight to a friend. I thoroughly enjoyed my week and got a lot out of it. There were so many chances to learn about possible career options, the company itself and about specific division related deals. The activities throughout the week were varied and interesting. All the Rothschild employees were welcoming and hospitable, with the HR team being especially friendly.
