About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the spring week and mainly because it was very interactive and mentally stimulating. We had spotlight sessions from many graduates and that too, made it very appealing to learn much more about some of the core business functions. Therefore, personally on a scale from (1-5), with 5 being the highest it would most definitely be 5!!
I believe making it onto the program itself made me feel valued and having the opportunity to share my opinions and ideas on different situations strongly highlighted the value the company had on its interns. Barclay's also had a passion for development and through the weeks agenda I can reassure you that I was given plenty of time to showcase what I had also learnt. The company also provided a great and open opportunity for us interns to learn from each other which makes me feel I was valued.
I received a great amount of support from the Barclay's graduates from the areas I was interested in and also our recruiters of the program who were very much open to all questions and very helpful! Furthermore, graduates were very keen on getting Spring interns to understand their roles and providing assistance to those with limited experience. Graduates and other staff were also polite and engaging to the point where you could easily set up a coffee meeting.
I was given a very practical perspective of things and I believe I developed various skills throughout the programme. However, the one skill I think I utilised during the Spring program and enhanced the most was my ability to build good relationships with people. The spring program really throws you into the deep end and I think through the use of constant networking events/opportunities it allows you to fully take advantage of this skill.
The Company
I think the insight was very well designed and structured! I would actually applaud the resourcing team and the recruiters from my specific program!
The general atmosphere in one nutshell I would say was 'warm'. People really made the environment as comfortable as possible and this was reflected across the entire company.
Other than having function spotlight sessions and opportunities to hear from professionals in each field, us as interns were all given the chance to shadow a expert in their field. Therefore, in response to what extent did the company invest in me through training well largely! I also given various presentation from very senior people and this helped with my development.
To a large extent, from the recruiters to graduates and more so managing directors they all made it clear and precise of how on a day to day basis work would look like for us on a full time role or either as a graduate. This was highlighted throughout the entire week of my Spring week.
The insight week provided this in the fullest and literally the values were shown everywhere you could possible turn to and I found this very exciting because it shows that Barclay's truly cared about their values and that they were embedded into the way it did business. In addition.to various talks we also got to see how the values linked into each area and more importantly at the beginning of the week we had a session focusing on specifically the company's values!
The content was very valuable! I really cannot express this in words but I think it really does show you how the different areas of the business operate and how you could most fit in. Also I say it was very valuable because we had live graduates expressing this to us each day.
Everything Else
Yes there were many networking opportunities!!!
In one word FANTASTIC!
