The Role
I loved my work placement. I got so much out of it and it is as good as you make it.
Everyone is willing to help and even though you are a student you are given a real job that matters
I had two management systems (my task manager and a student manager) I got as much guidance and help as I wanted and there were people constantly supporting me throughout the year
I had a very busy role that I enjoyed.
I was given a job where if I was absent it was noticed. My team consisted of my manager and I so was very busy!
Over the years my skills developed amazingly. I learnt how to work in a business environment and it gave me a real insight to the real world
The Company
The atmosphere was great - I sat with management and other students so there was a perfect balance
There is a scheme called "Foundations" in IBM which is the Internship and Graduate scheme.
I could enrol in extra training if I wanted and did a lot of learning over the IBM intranet.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I have applied for a graduate scheme as we were allowed to do this before external applicants
The Culture
Everyone moved around the area and the social side was excellent
I worked in greater London, Living was around £400 per month and the social side was fairly cheap!
Bedfont - not so great but it is only 15 mins to Windsor and 30 Mins to central London
Yes all the time, there is a massive student community in IBM
