The Role
I absolutely loved my placement year at Toyota GB - there was never a boring day. There is a very open and friendly atmosphere within the office, and everyone is so kind. The people make it such a wonderful place to work.
I have always felt very valued by my colleagues, and never once treated as a 'student'. This made me settle in very quickly as I was immediately accepted as part of the team.
Bi-weekly 1-2-1's have meant that I've been supported continuously by my manager. She has been extremely supportive with different projects throughout the year, always asking how I'm getting on and if I need any support with anything. All of the management team at Toyota are very approachable, even up to Director level.
I have been extremely busy throughout my placement year as I have been involved with many different projects. This has given me a great insight into different areas of the business and has helped me to consider different options for the future.
I have been given real responsibility throughout my year at Toyota GB. I have had complete ownership on several projects and have been left to manage my own workload. This has been extremely beneficial for me, especially when going back to University and needing to prioritise tasks for my dissertation.
The skills I have developed at Toyota GB, I will definitely be able to take with me back to University and wherever I end up after that. I have learned a lot from both my manager and my peers, as well as the training that I have completed since starting at Toyota GB.
The Company
Very open and friendly atmosphere - good balance of hard work and laughter around the office!
Very well organised. We had a pre-employment induction day three months before we started, which enabled us to sort accommodation if needed. It made the first day less daunting knowing that we had already met the students.
There was lots of training when I first started, and then ad hoc training throughout the year. It was made very clear that if I felt I needed training and development in a particular area, I would be able to access that at work. Very supportive of personal training and development.

Future employment prospects within the organisation are very appealing, there is a Graduate Programme that you are only eligible to apply for if you have done a placement year at Toyota GB.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene amongst colleagues within the organisation. This was mainly in the form of Sports & Social events. When I first started I found that attending these events enabled me to settle in quicker and make friends that I would otherwise not meet within the office.
I lived at home throughout my placement year so I am not 100% sure. The students that have relocated seem to have adequate money to live on.
There are plenty of bars and clubs nearby (within 10-15 minutes) and good access into Central London.
There we lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, mainly through the sports and social club.
