The Role
Job involved a lot of responsibility, which was good, but workload was very heavy at times and very high pressure.
Felt highly valued by my immediate account team, but on the organisational side maybe they weren't aware as they should have been of my efforts
Management could have been more supportive...but this seems to be an exception rather than the rule within the company
I was very busy but again my experience was not typical, generally they give you a good amount of work to do
High levels of responsibility
Skills I developed myself I think are life-long, but those were through my own personal development and the company could have been more supportive with official training programs
The Company
Because IBM takes on a lot of Interns the banter was fantastic, definately one of the benefits of working for a big firm.
Some elements have a lot to be desired, but I think it is designed to make sure you find your own feet rather than being babied into 'intern' job. You are treated like everyone else in the firm
Don't feel like they have invested in me at all...what I got out of this year was down to me rather than official training or centralised development schemes.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
A lot of opportunities and I think it was a valuable experience that I wouldn't substitute...but I probably wouldn't go back
The Culture
World class social scene...doubt it could have been better
You can have a good social life on the money they provide you...you won't save very much (unless you cut back) but you can enjoy yourself and break-even...which is the idea really
It was good, made better by the fact that there are over 50people going out in a group that are up for a laugh
Decent opportunities, again, most of the activities were organised by ITs...but there were some good volunteering opportunities at the company
