    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Job involved a lot of responsibility, which was good, but workload was very heavy at times and very high pressure.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt highly valued by my immediate account team, but on the organisational side maybe they weren't aware as they should have been of my efforts

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management could have been more supportive...but this seems to be an exception rather than the rule within the company

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy but again my experience was not typical, generally they give you a good amount of work to do

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • High levels of responsibility

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills I developed myself I think are life-long, but those were through my own personal development and the company could have been more supportive with official training programs

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Because IBM takes on a lot of Interns the banter was fantastic, definately one of the benefits of working for a big firm.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Some elements have a lot to be desired, but I think it is designed to make sure you find your own feet rather than being babied into 'intern' job. You are treated like everyone else in the firm

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Don't feel like they have invested in me at all...what I got out of this year was down to me rather than official training or centralised development schemes.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A lot of opportunities and I think it was a valuable experience that I wouldn't substitute...but I probably wouldn't go back

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • World class social scene...doubt it could have been better

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • You can have a good social life on the money they provide you...you won't save very much (unless you cut back) but you can enjoy yourself and break-even...which is the idea really

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It was good, made better by the fact that there are over 50people going out in a group that are up for a laugh

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Decent opportunities, again, most of the activities were organised by ITs...but there were some good volunteering opportunities at the company

    4/5
