About You
Very good Insight into Corporate Banking. Tasks set up throughout the week were enjoyable and interactive. Networking Sessions enabled interns to get a better understanding of what working at Barclays is really like.
PCB Spring Week was ran by two coordinators who were really friendly and approachable. The Barclays Values was something that came across strongly throughout the bank and there was a sense of Respect and Integrity between workers and interns.
In terms of tasks and group work projects, those running the Spring Week and Guest speakers were very helpful. During Work Shadowing sessions and Individual Talks, graduates and employees were open to answering any questions we had and to establish a network link for future contact.
Information did not really help in my degree studies. It was more of an insight on what roles they are in the bank, what do teams do within the numerous sections of PCB and Barclaycard and so on. Groupwork tasks and Case studies did develop my teamwork skills and presentational skills at the end of the week.
The Company
Earlier during the Week, the Insight was more content heavy and an information overload. However despite this, provided a basic understanding of divisions within the bank and the numerous roles within PCB and Barclaycard. Q&A sessions after talks were very useful. As the week went on, more and more interactive sessions were organised followed by networking and work shadowing. Overall the Spring Week was very well organised.
Atmosphere was quite relaxed and laid back in comparison to the other spring weeks in Front Office or Functions. This was mainly due to the more unique approach taken by the Spring Week Coordinators for PCB and the group of interns on it.
The coordinators are providing us with feedback they had gathered on us throughout the week whilst we undertook tasks and a short interview. In addition to this, presentations on Business Etiquette and a CV booklet enabled for personal development.
Throughout the week we got to see snippets of what it was like to have a full time role at Barclay. This especially came through during Work Shadowing sessions which were One to one.
The culture of the Company was always something that Employees, Graduates and even Jes Staley continually mention and promote. These are centred around the key Barclays Values which are posted around the whole company.
Definitely feel that I have a better understanding of PCB and Barclaycard and the numerous roles that are within the bank. The Insight has enabled me to narrow my focus of where in the finance industry I want to start off at.
Everything Else
Paid for completion of Spring Week and Reimbursed travel from University.
Work Shadowing and Networking Event enabled us to meet other employees and current graduates. This was really helpful and insightful into what specific roles employees did and how they themselves got to where they were currently in their careers.
Networking events were really fun. More relaxed and sociable than I thought it would be. Definitely a good experience to meet employees from various divisions and in different stages of their careers.
Not really. We could gather what individuals did within barclays but only when we asked them specifically. Information about what activities employees can do whether it be sports or volunteering was not provided.
If you have an interest in Corporate Banking then yes.
