About You
I attended the spring into operations division of JP Morgan 2016. The accommodation was really impressive. I lived in a lovely sea-view room in a nice hotel. That was my favorite part of the program. To be honest, I didn't fully enjoy the program for a few reasons. Firstly, there were too many students in this program so that not everyone can engage sometime. Once i was allocated at a table which was at the corner of the venue and was far away from the speaker. i can't see any thing he wrote down on the board and barely heard what he said. And also I didn't really like the schedule of the program. The first day was fully made up by presentations. From 9am to 6pm, we just sit at the room and listened to each presentations. The rest of the week included too many talks as well. Most students traveled from other cities to Bournemouth. i believe we expected things that we can engage and be a part of the company. If just listening talks, we will stay in our own cities and listen to the online talks.
The staff there were all very kind and friendly to us. They would try to help the students as long as you needed. But I still didn't feel valued during the program. And that was the main thing i felt disappointed about the program. I think one reason is there were too many students and no every one can be heard. Another reason is the group activities. Every activities, we were temporarily divided into different groups with random people. We don't know each other which made some local students want to keep a distance from international students even more (of course language barrier is another reason). For several times, i found other international students and me try to communicate with the native-speakers group member but they just tried to ignore. I felt REALY unvalued at that moment.
No too much. Many times you need to make decisions by yourself. We did have business representative, coach and other people join us during group activities but we can't really seek support for them. Because your every behaviors were judged by them.
I like the part of work shallowing. I gained the direct awarencess of the division which made me feel that I was learning things. The information i received from work shallowing was very precious. I know I can't receive it by other way or by myself. I also enjoyed the time when we had social events.
The Company
As what I mentioned, i did feel it was well structured. And we walked in rain to go as planed- having a tour around of the company. Girls dressed business formal and heels walking in wet and soft grassland.
There staff in JP Morgan were really friendly and the atmosphere was really lovely. It is a big feature of JPM's culture.
We don't have to many opportunities of personal training and development. Two group games, one group project and one work shallow. The group games had a lot to improve and the work shallow was really short. The program was too big and there were to many students so the personal training and development was a weak part of the program.
I feel i understand much more about the company and the division compare with myself before doing this program. But it could be better if the work shallowing part was longer. It was most helpful part of the program. The operations devisor is huge but we only had a chance to follow one team. There were still a lots of teams we did not know at all.
We can feel the culture by talking to these staff. They were vey friendly. An also by visiting the work place of the brunch we can see the culture of the company was very caring and lovely. But we can't fully understand the company culture until we work as a part of the company like other employees.
I obtained the knowledge about what people do in operations division, the movability of people in this division and the city where this division is located. I think these things are enough for me to decide on my future career path, especially if i should continue to work in operations division next year.
Everything Else
Generally it was good.
There were a lot of opportunities for networking with them. There were a lot of presentations every day and you have chance to network with them after that. We also had dinner with other employees and some social networking events. We can ask them various questions or just have a casual chat. They were very easygoing and helpful.

I heard they had a lot activities to join in like football, yoga and other hobbies. One of the employees said that he join the football team of JPM in bournemouth and they had weekly training. They also have compilation with teams from other brunch. So i think the activities part is generally good.
Depends on what offers they have received.
