About You
It was a great experience. There's a lot of information to take in, but all of it was relevant.
The HRs were always there to help. Also, each intern was assigned to a buddy, who stayed in contact during the program.
I have learnt a lot about the industry and understood which skills I need to develop in order to be successful in the banking career.
The Company
I think the structure could be improved. For example, on the first day organising a networking event only for interns (without any business representatives) in an informal setting. Also, the work shadowing day was on Thursday after lunch. If it was on the first half of the week, interns could make a more informed decision about their divisional preference, which had to be submitted on Wednesday noon.
It was a friendly atmosphere and a learning environment
Barclays heavily invests in their interns and gives opportunities to grow.
There were presentations about different teams within Banking and Markets, networking opportunities and case studies. However, interns could only work shadow in Markets.
There were plenty of networking opportunities where interns got to know more about the people and the culture of Barclays.
Everything Else
There were enough networking opportunities. It's up to you if you make use of them or not
Yes, the program introduces you to banking very well and gives you the opportunity to shine
