The Role
very welcoming atmosphere - I felt like I was wanted and part of the team, not just with work but with social events etc.
i was kept busy, rewarded for good work with higher responsability and completed work and built models that were used by the company
line managers were brilliant in overseeing what I did and if I needed help or more work to remain busy. The buddy system (where you are coupled with a recent hire of the company) was particularly helpful.
Was able to remain busy and not stagnate with nothing to do. But was also able to have a life outside of work. Also had sufficient time to go out for lunch either with interns or my desk
Much resposibilty and from the very beginning. In my first week I was working on a new model that the company was set to implement and I was running several daily credit risk models and reporting their results to other departments and the CRO (chief risk officer)
- Gained a high level understanding of VBA - Gained a high level understanding of Bloomberg - Gained a high level understanding of Excel functions - Gained a high level of training (1 week) in technicals e.g. bond pricing, YTM etc.
The Company
Brilliant, very collegiate atmosphere. The desks I sat at were a good laugh in the office and outside the office.
HR ran a very welll prepared show. Everything was organised with flexibilty in mind.
The 1week technical training with 7city was a major boost and unique for an internship programme. Also recieved a days worth of Bloomberg training at the Bloomberg offices. This was on top of the continuous help and support you are provided with by all within the company. Even the CEO is approachable.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Cant tell at the moment given the current climate. Previous programmes, however, have seen a near full intake of interns.
The Culture
Went out at least 2-3 times a week with the interns after work, always went out for lunch (If I wasnt busy or was going out with my desk). Also had a couple of events organised by the firm for us, which were fully comped.
London is expensive. Meals are expensive and drinks are expensive, but manageable given the compensation provided by the firm.
very good. a lot to do in central london. better things in the outskirts though.
the firm organised for us to take part in a CSR (corporate social responsibilty) day where we helped rebuild a community centre garden (good fun). We also took part in an inter-bank rugby tournament (organised by BarCap) which was also a laugh.
