The Role
My placement has been a huge learning curve for me. I have learnt which kind of working environment I would like to work in during the future and have also gained a lot of valuable client exposure both internally and externally to IBM.
Gained very constructive feedback half way through my placement and at the end of my placement I received very positive feedback. Constant thank you's were given by most of my team which made me feel valued.
My manager was always on hand when assistance was needed as were some members of my team.
I was busy for most of each month but towards the end of each month my work load calmed down.
I was given my own clients to manage independently which showed that my manager had confidence in me.
My level of confidence has increased majorly and I will now use that confidence to question and query anything I am unsure of within my degree studies and my further work and education.
The Company
My personal experience was very different to most other placement students as none of my team are based in my office (Southbank) and most of them work from home. However, I was welcomed by other teams which was very beneficial as it allowed me to gain experience working with a completely different team of my own and I also got to assist with some of the projects they were working on.
Very well organised that there are lots of projects and educational sessions in place for placement students to attend. IBM also have an internal learning tool called Think40 which allows employees to educate themselves further into a variety of different sectors.
There was opportunity to attend a few internal courses however these were quite the challenge to find - I was notified about a course by a member of my team. We did however receive educational module sessions that were compulsory to attend and also an internal careers fair which was just for placement students.

Working from home
After attending an internal careers fair I am now confident in the application process for applying back as a graduate and have a clear idea of the role I would like to apply to.
The Culture
Very good social scene between other placement students as IBM take on a lot of students which helps to creating a huge student community.
As I was based in London Southbank the costs were very high standard London prices.
Lot's of places nearby!
There are some sporting activities in place however I did not get involved with these.
