About You
It was a well organised, superbly planned experience with a variety of tasks and the opportunity to network with business representatives throughout the week.
Every business representative was eager to talk to each and every one of us, so long as we came prepared with questions and queries. There were multiple competitions throughout the week and the structures of the activities were set so that each member of the team could contribute.
We always had our programme organiser on hand to help us with any issues, and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. A good example is the mentor programme that assigned us to a graduate trainee; my mentor had developed a whole plan to take us through her work and even asked her boss to have a Q&A session with us.
I developed a lot of teamworking skills, crucially how to solve an ever changing problem as it develops, a useful skill in any environment. I built a lot of confidence approaching representatives, which will be useful in any future networking or social event. I also now have a clearer understanding of what the Operations department does within the business, and I can focus my efforts for internships and extra curricular studies towards a set goal.
The Company
Every activity was well planned and structured, with assigned groups to take us out of our comfort zones and mingle with other people, a useful confidence building tool. We had an itinerary along with a booklet detailing each member of the programme, which made getting to know everyone a lot easier,
All the interns were excited to be there and eager to learn, and I was really pleased with the atmosphere outside of the business as well, we were able to socialise throughout the whole week and have a lot of fun, The organisers were charismatic and friendly, and really made us feel valued and relaxed.
Our graduate mentors developed a full working plan for us, which would of taken a lot of time and effort. We had a lot of contact with high ranking business representatives, which would have taken a lot of effort to organise.
The work shadowing was really useful in seeing everyday life within the firm, and through the tours around the campus we got to see the working environment first hand.
On the first day we had a lecture about the values and commitments of the firm. Throughout the week, in meeting with business representatives we got to know a lot about activities and the working environment within the firm.
It really explained the department and showed me what working in Operations will be like, definitely helping me to make a clear decision in the near future,
Everything Else
All accommodation and travel was covered by the firm, alongside breakfasts and lunches.
There were lots of opportunities, such as networking lunches and representatives working with individual groups.
The networking was quite relaxed and friendly, with lots of opportunities to meet new people. The firm also arranged social events throughout the week to allow the group to mingle.
We had a tour of the campus which involved a talk by employees about the environmental activities we could get involved in, and during our talks we were told about sports teams and social groups within the firm,.
Definitely. It was a fun, social experience that gave me lots of information and really helped to set my focus for a career in the future.
