About You
I really enjoyed my time on Spring Into Deloitte. With the insight consisting of over 30 people it meant I got to meet lots of people and make a few good friends I have kept in touch with. We got to experience all service lines within the company and there was variety in the activities not just sat down listening to talks.
We were made to feel very valued and wanted by the firm, although it was more of an exploration into the firm (rather than conducting actual work/tasks) we were made to feel just as part of the team of people. We got to meet all levels of the firm from first year graduates to managers, directors and partners and even have dinner with members of the company.
There was lots of guidance offered throughout the 2 day programme. We were frequently encouraged to ask any questions we had to all the staff right up to the partners. During activities we were always offered extra guidance if we were struggling with it, and the insight leaders were always around if you had any problems.
We spent a lot of the time split into different teams, meaning we really had to expand our teamwork skills especially when there was a mix of characters, ages, and nationalities which will be useful for future group projects. We also had to construct mini presentations meaning we had to learn to be confident and speak well in front of an audience.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. At the start of the insight we were given a print out of the next 2 days powerpoint presentations so we were able to take notes on what was said or look ahead to what we were going to be taking part in next. We were also given a brief timeline of the order of each days activities and talks which I found very useful.
Although we were dressed in formal wear and it was an insight the atmosphere was very warm and everyone chatted among themselves a lot, it did not feel intimidating or too formal between the candidates or the staff. We started off with a fun game of 'people bingo' which was a fun way to get to speak to everyone and relax into the office before the two days began.
We were given lots of useful talks and booklets in order to advance us for the interview and further job.
All the employees gave us an outline of both their service line and what their role was like day to day meaning it gave a good understanding into what working there would be like. They were also very open to any questions about their jobs, and told us all about other aspects of the role such as financial perks and social activities.
Very valuable. We had a talk on each service area as well as the general firm followed by meeting people from each team and taking part in an activity for each area to understand the role more.
Everything Else
Although this 2 day programme was not paid we were very well reimbursed. We were given up to £50 in travel expenses and they paid for us all to stay in a very nice hotel with a pool for one night in-between days. Breakfast was paid for in the hotel, and lunch provided on both days in the office as well as an evening meal at the hotel at the end of the first day.
There was lots of opportunities for networking and meeting employees. They joined us for dinner one night and spent all evening chatting and answering any questions. Throughout the two days different employees of the firm came and met with us from tax, risk, consultancy and audit ranging from first and second year graduates to managers, senior managers, partners and recruitment teams.
Lots and very fun given the short time!! We got split into groups and kept swapping in order to meet each other and played lots of interactive business games! We all ate breakfast and lunch together and had a meal in the hotel with the company!
Yes the first year graduates were particularly keen to tell us about these. They told us about 'fun friday' in the office where they have games and all come in casual clothing. There was also a big monthly social in each department which in the past had consisted of cheese and wine tasting, trampolining and bowling. They also have a few sports clubs and were participating in the local half marathon.
I would definitely encourage this insight to a friend, it was a jam packed two days and gave a good over view into all aspects of the company and their people. I had lots of fun and met some lovely people as well as learning lots of skills about myself which I can take into the future!
