    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Before commencing my role we had a week induction program which was good fun and valuable to get to know how Accenture works and also learn new skills e.g. Excel and Presenting. My role got me thoroughly involved in the client project and I soon felt part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued amongst my colleagues, particularly as the work I did got me involved and working with a large number of people. I always tried to be as helpful as possible, and received positive comments to this effect which demonstrated that it didn't go unnoticed. In terms of my smaller team, I didn't feel like I was just an intern and was definitely treated as one of the full time members of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support when needed - sometimes I felt that I was slightly "out of my depth" in something I was requested to do, but I actually feel this has been beneficial in improving my confidence and making me think of ways around the problem without needing to seek guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the start of my placement when I was understanding the role and the client work it was sometimes a little slow, but this only lasted about a week. It then became quite busy as I was given increasing responsibility. Usually the work level was fine - I was never short of things to do though, and sometimes it did get a little too hectic! But again, this has taught me to time manage effectively so has had a positive effect.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility within my role. When my manager was away, I was managing our sub team, and liaising operations in multiple countries. My role also had a high level of management exposure, both from Accenture and the client management teams. In addition, from about halfway through my 6 month placement I was chairing the change boards.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training that we received in the induction week, particularly relating to presentation skills, will be invaluable in my university work. I also found the Excel training useful for my role, and I'm sure will be utilised in the future. My time management skills that I have developed will be useful for the future, especially at University when juggling multiple modules.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Members of the team were good fun so although the work was quite busy at times, the team members were always making it an enjoyable atmosphere to work in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was well organised - the induction week and overall structure of the placement was well set up. There were also numerous networking and team events for the other placement students within Accenture, as well as team events on the client project.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Accenture as a firm certainly invest in you, providing budget for team events and skills sessions. There is also an online portal tool which provides access to a vast range of training tools that you can complete as you wish. There are also objective setting systems which ensures that you get the most out of the placement, and HR can monitor what you're getting involved in on the different projects.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a graduate job there, which I am going to accept. As the work is project work, this means that the work will always be varied as you will move between projects at certain intervals.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we had numerous networking events within Accenture as a firm, where all the interns would meet. I also had some social events within my project team, especially as sometimes travel was involved within the UK, so a few of us would be away at the same time

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was living in Clapham which was expensive in terms of rent and going out, but I was prepared that this would be the case!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is generally good in London, and if not right by where you're living then you won't need to travel far. There were a great range of places to go out to.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there are many sports clubs etc within Accenture as a firm, and they offer a lot of development/charity schemes.
