    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Group Functions spring insight was a throughly enjoyable experience. It gave a good overview of the different areas within Group functions, such as Treasury, Risk, Finance & HR to name a few. I was challenged and able to develop areas that I may have not been so strong in, which is great for self development!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like a valued member to the firm during the week. Barclays invested a lot of time into their interns and provided us with a great experience through initiative such as the Spring week app!

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We always had someone to refer to if we were unsure about something. As I mentioned before, the app provided great support throughout the week. Employees around the business were also willing to support and guide you and were happy for you to reach out to them.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information gained from this spring week has provided a better insight into the area of banking which I'd like to go into. The week also helped me better my technical knowledge in specific products and banking sectors. As well as that, I have further developed my soft & presentation skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The spring week was very well structured. This year there was an interactive app to go alongside the week, which provided a platform to network with peers and recruiters as well as keeping us updated and organised throughout the week!

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was just great as the structure of the week. Barclays' employees and fellow interns were very friendly and engaging. Questions and queries were listened to and ample time was given to resolve question you may have had.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We participated in training sessions for networking, presentation skills and various other skills that would be required of the different divisions around the bank.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We got a great overview of what it'd be like to work at Barclays through contact time with a variety of employees from graduate to MD. We were also able to work shadow employees and see their working environment and what they did on a day to day basis.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We had a vast insight into Barclays' culture and how it was displayed throughout the business all levels. RISES - Respect Integrity Service Excellence Stewardship, which are the values of Barclays, is also displayed visually around the building as a constant reminder to all, which I believe is a great thing.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The week has taken me forward in determining my future career path and has opened up many avenues that I wasn't entirely considering beforehand. This is great a great thing, but also makes the decision a little bit harder as so many opportunities are available at Barclays.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had a great networking evening where employees and interns across the bank came together for food and drinks. As well as that, there were networking opportunities each day and also speed networking sessions.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I was able to meet up with people from different areas of the business. Also, some of the interns went out for dinner and drinks throughout the week which was great. You were able to build good relationships with the people you were working with, which is very important.
