About You
The insight was useful in terms of learning more about the firm and the relevant departments. However, during the first day of the programme - there were presentations from individuals from different departments; some of these talks were too technical leading to participants becoming disinterested. Also, some of the speakers were very monotone creating a very dull vibe. Though, there were some excellent speakers were enthusiastic and told gave what seemed like a genuine representation of the firm. The second day of the programme was enjoyable - we were given a task to carry out within a group and was much more enjoyable than the first.
EY did make me feel valued - they provided Dinner at Jamie Oliver's Restaurant on the first day. There was a lot of food and drinks also available throughout the programmer. The individuals running the programme were very friendly and welcoming.
The support during the insight is excellent.
The case study was a good experience and highlighted issues with dealing with certain tasks and working with new people.
The Company
The structure was very good and well run.
The atmosphere was ok
The was not much personal training due to the programme being only 2 days. The case study was insightful and useful - it allowed us to highlight our weaknesses and strengths. We also were able to evaluate on the case study - which allowed us to see where we can improve in the future. Also, the programme allows you to be fast tracked into the Assessment Centre for the summer internship programme so the company do value you and would like to invest in you.
I strongly believe until you do something yourself you do not really get a proper understanding. However, there were numerous occasions were we were given the opportunity to network with individuals on the graduate programme. These networking opportunities were given in both formal and informal situations - this allowed us to gain a real insight to the type of people working at insight and what they truly felt about their job. On the first day, during dinner it was useful to be able to talk to the graduates in this informal situation and was probably the time we gained the most insight.
I strongly believe until you do something yourself you do not really get a proper understanding. Though my impression of EY is that they are a company that really does try to focus on improving their human capital and providing a lot of support and assistance to those working within their firm. Individuals are truly trying to help one another and the management is designed to help those that are working hard to move up the ranks and be given responsibility. Many company's give this impression on their websites and targets they publish - but at EY it feels genuine.
I feel the programme did its best in aiding participants to understand what different departments do and what sub service lines and roles there are in the different divisions. The content was useful, but I feel the way it was presented could be improved. Some of the talks were very dull and come have been presented in a more engaging manner.
