The Role
I liked that I was involved in asset management process and did work which was relevant to what the team was doing.
My team was very friendly and supportive.
Associate I worked with was extremely helpful, though my MD was more aside from what I was doing.
You need to work hard, because this is the only way to produce something meaningful in this industry. Compared to fellow friends who did internship at BB banks, my hours were much better. This is because in investment management you need to have fresh mind to come up with good ideas and no one will ask you to stay in the office late. In general, around 50 per week and I never worked on weekends.
You don't get to run money during internship or the first years of work. I mainly did research devoted to feed my team with some ideas/views on a particular subject. I was also taken to quite a few meetings with brokers which I found very useful for learning how things work.
Understanding the fund management business was a key take away. Different interns developed different skills depending on their division. I could always ask for tasks which developed one or another skill.
The Company
A lot of smart and serious people who get along very well.
This was a new internship program, so organization will be much better next year.
I was taken seriously, as a member of a team.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
The company is growing and will need people.
The Culture
Other interns were very friendly and we got along very well. No sharp elbows, not competition. This makes internship enjoyable.
