The Role
Everyone was really friendly and supportive
This was very variable. Some days there was a lot to be done but on other days there was very little. On the whole I found they were having to find work for me and it felt my presence was not really required.
Little responsibility and little client work, mostly internal work. However, there was some client work.
Learnt a lot of Excel skills.
The Company
The atmosphere wasn't great, generally people were very busy working hard and everyone ate lunch at their desk. There wasn't much in the was of department socials, only one in two months and no spontaneous after work events. Having said this everyone was friendly
There was no structure to the internship after the induction, however, this did vary and interns in audit generally had a structured programme unlike those in other departments.
There was a two day induction which involved developing team working and presentation skills. I also attended a financial modelling course.
Subsidised Canteen
Not sure it would be something I would want to do permanently but in the short term it was ok.
The Culture
There were no intern events organised by KPMG which I was very surprised by as the other big four put on events for interns most weeks. However, the interns were all really sociable and we organised our own socials at least once a week.
London is expensive!
Loads of places to go in Canary Wharf and central London
There was one office social and a volunteering day doing groundworks at a park.
