    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a great experience. The week took a holistic approach to introducing us to our business stream of choice with activities ranging from case studies to networking with seniors and juniors. There was never a dull moment - we were kept on our toes with a variety of insightful mediums which kept the week interesting and relevant to us.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Very valued. The fact that we were encouraged and were given the opportunity to speak to MDs and VPs in one-on-one sessions if we took the initiative to arrange it was incredible. Being invited along for after work social with superiors within my team was another example of how they made us feel included only as spring week interns.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were paired up with a buddy within a specific sector team for the week. I was very fortunate to have a buddy who took the time to plan a structured week of learning for me. He asked beforehand if there was anything I'd like to dig into throughout the programme to make best use of the week. I wanted exposure to the day-to-day life of what a Corporate Banking Analyst does and so he set me up with a modelling case study which Summer Interns had to complete as a task the previous year. Over the course of the week my buddy must have put aside at least 4-5 hours of his own time between sitting down with me personally and walking me through how to properly build my model, taking me out for lunch on the last day, talking me through models he was working on and introducing me to important figures around the office. In summary I was fortunate to receive as much guidance and support as I did - it made a great impression on me and confirmed to me that the mentorship culture at Citi is something I'd like to be a part of in the future.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was able to translate academic ability to a more practical setting. I have built an extensive professional network as a result of the week and will be keeping in touch with various individuals over the coming year before staring my Summer Analyst Internship position.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. Networking events scattered throughout the week with both seniors and juniors. Business skills sessions including interview preparation, networking advice and body language sessions etc. We were given roughly two full days + several hours on the rest of the days for the "work shadowing" aspect where I spent my time building the case study model and working on a few internal client overview slides.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I felt like I could literally walk up to any desk and have a meaningful conversation.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The whole point of the spring week is to act as a medium to fast track applicants for the summer internship scheme. This meant that the week was full of events where we were being both formally and informally assessed throughout. There was mutual investment - as much as it is a chance for us to learn what Citi is like, it was also a chance for them to assess us as potential candidates for the internship scheme. As a result, the investment from their side into our development was noticeable. We were well looked after and consistently asked about our opinion of the programme and for ideas of how we could improve the week throughout.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think my other answers can indirectly answer this question. It definitely gave me an insight as to what a full time role would entail.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Again, I think my others responses can answer this indirectly. The culture at Citi became obvious as I spoke to more and more people. It really is a people business and it shows through who I met.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very helpful. I was fortunate enough to have been fast tracked and will now be joining Citi as a Summer Analyst in 2017.
