About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight as I felt treated as an employee not merely a 'work experience kid'. Everyone was extremely friendly and willing to help if I needed anything at all.
I felt very valued. Of course I was aware I could not undertake technical work but everyone made a true effort to get me involved. Where able, I was given tasks which challenged me.
We were given contact details of many different members of staff. A personal trainee buddy provided us with an easy to talk to support.
As a non-law student, exposure to work in a law firm is incredible value for my future career choice.
The Company
A nice split between socials and time in the office. It was great to be able to experience more than one department.
Very positive, I didn't feel I was being assessed. The process felt very two way.
We were given training sessions on the first day to prepare us for the week ahead. A mock client pitch was also involved in the scheme, for which we were given a couple of relevant training sessions.
The mock client pitch meant we had to email round different departments within the firm to seek relevant help. This enabled us to gain an idea of what it would be like to work at the firm and the support available to us.
The socials, both with trainees and associates and partners were such a great way to get to know people. Moreover I took part in a sports activity and found that the associates and trainees all got on really well.
It confirmed my desire to pursue a career in law.
Everything Else
We were given a salary for both weeks which allowed us to cover our living and travel costs. The payment was very generous.
There were lunches and drinks put on within the firm allowing us to meet senior fee earners.
I felt very relaxed during them, and everyone made a real effort to engage with us.
Yes, I was invited to play both netball and tag rugby.
Most definitely.
