About You
Participating in the EY leadership academy was a great experience. Each day I learnt about the different types of leadership and got the opportunity to put what i'd learnt into action. I learnt how to improve my team working skills, my leadership capabilities and learnt about the future prospects for me in the company.
EY undoubtedly put a lot of time and resources into making sure each individual felt valued throughout the Leadership Academy. Individual Psychometric tests were carried out prior to the event so everyone had an understanding of their leadership strengths and weaknesses. There was individual feedback and Q&A sessions at the end of each day as well as events in the evening such as the partner dinner that allowed us to network and learn from current employees.
Throughout the programme there was constant guidance and support. This was from both EY employees and external leadership experts that provided us with constant feedback and advise to further our personal development. There was also sessions that provided us with insights into the EY recruitment process and different opportunities available to us as undergraduates.
Participating in the Leadership Academy allowed me to apply what I've learn at university and develop my leadership skills. I felt that throughout the week my confidence and ability to lead others developed hugely. This will will undoubtedly help me in group situations throughout my degree as well as in extra curricular activities such as being part of the exec for university societies.
The Company
Prior to the Leadership academy a timetable of each days events was sent out via email. This provided a clear insight of what to expect from each of the days as well as dress code, contact details and other information. Everyday there would be an morning, afternoon and evening session. All meals and refreshments throughout the day were also included.
Throughout the insight everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone made lots of friends and developed networks with EY employees to contact in the future. Some of the activities required more of a professional approach whilst other tasks where outside and involved lots of fun and laughter. Throughout the 4 days I really enjoyed myself and there was never a moment without someone I could turn to and talk to.
It was amazing to see how much EY were prepared to invest into training and developing each one of us during the insight. There were psychometric tests, leadership experts, ey employees, student recruitment experts and more, around 24/7 to help and develop us whenever needs be. I felt like I learn and developed more during my 4 days at the leadership academy than I have in my whole time at university to date.
EY were very informative about the student recruitment process and the range of role at EY. The EY employees also gave us first hand insights to what its like working at the firm as well as advice and tips. The partner dinner on one of the evenings was also very insightful. I was able to talk to the partner about the different prospects for career advancement as well as what it was like to be in a leadership role.
The insight was very useful in understanding the company culture. It gave me the chance to speak to a range of employees including partners, managers and those currently on the graduate scheme. This gave me the chance to listen to first hand experiences of working in the firm, as well as more information about all the different service lines.
The content was very useful in helping me to decide on my future career path. During the week I was able to ask a range of EY employees questions I had including those about the different service lines, chances of progression and different benefits within the company. It also gave me the chance to share my contact details with a range of employees who I can contact in the future with questions.
Everything Else
Yes there was lots of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of EY during the Leadership Academy. This was both during the day, whilst completing the tasks and activities, and in the evening, during the partner dinner and networking events. People were able to share contact details such as email addresses and connect on social media platforms such as linkedin.
The networking/social event opportunities were really good fun. Every evening there would be a different activity for everyone to participate in. This included pub quizzes, partner dinners and a drumming session. These activities gave everyone a great opportunity to get to know each other better as well as learning more about the firm.
Yes we were able to talk to EY employees and find out more about the activities you can get involved in outside work. This was really interesting and made EY sound like it a really good company to work for.
Yes I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. I learnt so much over the 4 days.
