The Role
This placement allows me to work on different projects which gave a lot of knowledge and a better overview of what my future job was going to be.
My manager trusted me by giving me a lot of responsibilities. He was following my project and was there in case I needed him but in the same time he gave me a lot of autonomy. Also, my team gave me a warm welcome and I felt I was part of the team from my first day until the end of my placement.
AS I said previously, my manager was always there when I needed him and we scheduled 1:1 on a regular basis in a way that I didn't feel I was struggling at anytime.
I have been busy enough during my whole placement although I was able to grab a coffee on the morning and another one on the afternoon.
I have been working on large scale projects as well as on some ground work which gave a pretty good overview of the job of a packaging technologist.
I worked on projects which led me to familiarize myself with state of the art packaging machines. Also I did some prospective jobs which learnt me a lot about packaging facilities. Beside that, because I was working in England and I was always in contact with people from the factory, suppliers, my team... I have been able to develop my spoken and written English.
The Company
Really good atmosphere, every people has been welcoming and kind with me.
I struggled a bit to have a laptop during the first couple of weeks and spent almost 2 months to get the correct NI number set up and that kind of stuff. But apart from that everything was well organised.
I have followed many trainings on safety, work environment and the Mondelez's objectives..

I have been hired under a 9-month short term contract at the end of my internship and a few months later, I have been hired for a permanent job to work as packaging technologist.
The Culture
We organised a few events with the other placement students which created a very good atmosphere within this group of people that I was meeting every single day.
I felt the cost of living quite high but the placement remuneration was good as well so I didn't struggle with money at any point.
As Birmingham is the second largest city in England, anyone can find a place which suits him here, especially if you are going on Broadstreet for the clubbers ;)
Some sport activities have been proposed but not that much.
