About You
I thought the week was very well planned out, with a combination of workshops, presentations and many chances to network as well. It was especially an excellent opportunity to learn more about the different sectors within the firm.
The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming and it was evident that a lot of planning had gone into the week to maximise the short time available and make sure that we truly did benefit from the programme.
Instructions to a group project towards the end were very clear and we had many chances to ask questions during every panel.
It was not too linked with my degree, but more so developed the skills needed for a career in finance, by working in a group in a short amount of time and having to network with professionals.
The Company
It was very well-structured and the networking opportunities and presentations were clearly balances throughout the week so on an individual day, you would be doing a variety of different things rather than fitting workshops on one day then shadowing on another.
HR were extremely friendly so we could always ask questions if needed and at the beginning of the week, an organised ice-breaker activity and welcoming drinks session meant that we could fully integrate with our colleagues at an early stage
Senior Rothschild representatives took their time out to share their expertise and as well as that, I was impressed with a presenting skills workshop we had which gave individual feedback so you could really reflect on your own skills.
We had opportunities to speak to members from every stage and sector of the firm so a really clear insight to responsibilities and work of each role was depicted.
The spring insight made me realise just how important culture is to Rothschild as it is the forefront of their firm and speaking to different employees, the culture really shone through as the foundation of the company, not just something that they say.
The programme tried to give us as close as an insight as possible at this stage to what it would really be like, from work shadowing to speaking with analysts and managing directors and I've never had an experience like it before so it was very eye-opening
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel to and fro the offices
There were plenty of these, with opportunities to network everyday and meet other employees during the presentation panels.
The Rothschild representatives were very engaged and interested with the programme and were more than willing to talk openly about their experiences. They were more than open to keeping in touch via email for further questions which I thought was beneficial.
During the week, we dedicated an entire morning participating in some volunteering and as well as this, a separate panel was scheduled to talk about Rothschild's corporate responsibilities.
Most definitely - it was a very rewarding experience and I learned a lot about the industry in the process.
