  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was exposed to tasks that helped improve my technical skills such as scripting, debugging, documentation. I went from a non-linux user to an average linux user able to perform basic and administrative tasks.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my colleagues to a large extent because I was given responsibility that helped Senior consultants provide better services to clients and it was an all inclusive team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My first 3 weeks was training to provide a better understanding of the products, services and how things work. This training and test runs actually helped me ease into my job role better. I was always busy working on a project and i enjoyed this very much.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Everyday was a challenging one and it always entailed deadlines that had to be met to keep clients satisfied. It was always a 9-5:30 pm task day and sometimes it got stretched beyond that.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the responsibility of working alongside a senior consultant - integration engineer and had to take over his task when he was on vacation too.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i have developed so far will not only help me in my final year project, it will help me in my search for Graduate roles and give me a better insight in my final year modules as I will be able to see the practical side of things

  • It was a fun and intellectually challenging atmosphere

  • It was well organized with each placement student having a Task Manger and a Personal Development Manager for support whenever it is needed

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were provide with online database with courses to help improve our skills and were required to complete at 40 hours of learning during the placement year as part of our personal training and development. Also, we had face to face skills development workshops which gave us insight to potential skills employers are looking for and what to do to improve those skills.

  • Cost of living was very expensive because my placement was based in London
