About You
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the vacation scheme, from the time spent at my desk to the assessment elements.
I had not expected to truly be treated as a fully-fledged trainee, but this was indeed the case: for example, I was entrusted with tasks such as drafting opinions for partners in the department in which I sat.
Although I was given interesting and challenging tasks, I never felt as though I had been thrown off the deep end. I was able to ask questions and receive helpful answers from my supervisor, trainees, associates, and even partners.
The work ethic I developed throughout this vacation scheme helped motivate me throughout the last semester of my undegraduate degree, and will doubtlessly help me in my upcoming GDL and LPC.
The Company
I was surpised by how well structured it was: A&O were able to fit surprisingly much into the week and a half we were there. It was a very well-rounded experience.
The atmosphere was incredibly nice, friendly, helpful, and supportive. I am very much looking forward to joining the firm for my training contract in order to experience it.
As mentioned previously, I was treated as a fully-fledged trainee, so was in a position to fully understand the characteristics of the role of A&O trainee.
Coming into contact with everyone from trainees to the firm's senior partner, I felt like I was in a great position to get a feel for A&O culture.
It cemented - beyond a doubt - my choice of A&O as the firm I want to work for.
Everything Else
There was an abundance of opportunities - within and without the office - to meet a range of A&O lawyers.
They were not only very informative, but quite fun!
