The Role
Everyone was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The project I was given were challenging but enjoyable.
I was welcomed openly and felt as though I could ask questions if I was struggling on any issue. My manager would always make time for me if I needed it. I was also invited to team lunches from the first week!
My manager could not have been better, the guidance he gave was superb. If I had any problems he would make time and he specifically set up periodic meetings to see how I was getting on.
I think the work balance was very good, as with any job there are times where everything grinds to a halt as something is waited on. That said, that didnt occur too often, however as I got to the end of the placement a few things did build up and were left as outstanding. My manager did not appear to be too concerned about this and instead congratulated me on the work I had achieved.
I was given tasks with real applications of importance in the company.
I think I learnt a great deal during my placement by not only improving my work skills but by learning about Engineering in practice.
The Company
I felt as though the atmosphere was relaxed and easy going. People were generally lighthearted although obviously too much joking can be a bad thing. I think overall it was a good balance.
Everything was organised effectively and ran smoothly.
I attended several courses to improve my knowledge.
