The Role
An amazing experience! Incredibly insightful exciting placement where no two days are the same.
Everyone was hugely welcoming and on the most part extremely happy to help. All training provided was done in a friendly and professional manner.
You are given a mentor figure from day one at Aldi and they look after you in the sense that you have weekly updates. If you have any issues within your time at Aldi they should be your first port of call and are always happy to help. The mentors are chosen due to their experience and as such are able to help with a multitude of things,
Never a dull day... this saying has never been more appropriate to when working with Aldi. Every day is a chance to learn something new and if approached with the right attitude you will flourish. Aldi is a very fast paced company and is in a constant state of change due to the retail market being so volatile and prone to alterations.
The level of management training that you receive is unparalleled. You are given vast responsibility within months of working for the company paired with constant guidance and support it makes for a happy learning process.
I currently study for a food retail degree and as such there are aspects of this placement that will prove useful. That said, my main reason for wishing to partake in the Aldi placement was due to the level of responsibility and management training that they offer as well as the progression prospects.
The Company
Whilst in the office at Aldi everyone is friendly and happy within their working environment. Regardless of how busy everyone is they will always make time for you and answer any questions that you may have.
The plan that myself and my colleagues followed was exceptionally well planned and allowed for us to see Aldi from every angle in order to gain a full overview of the company.
Amazing! As previously stated you will be trained and shown every aspect of the business from how the orders are processed, logistical planning, stacking pallets to dealing with suppliers. From day one it is evident that Aldi invest a great deal of time and money into their Placement students and as such you feel valued from the start.

Very appealing, as a placement student you are able to work alongside and correspond with the trainee area managers - to be able to see the potential roles we could be working in is hugely appealing. From day one we have contact and training from several present Area Managers and as such it is clear to see the future prospects that the company offer.
The Culture
Aldi is extremely fast paced and a lot of work - this does not allow for a particularly successful social scene. Aldi are keen for the placement students to interact and as such take you for lunches in order for everyone to 'catch up'. Due to the way in which management is structured at Aldi it is not advisable for placement students to engage in out of work social activities with colleagues.
I was able to live at home throughout my placement and as such it was indeed very cheap! The salary provided is extremely competitive and so any socialising is very affordable - if you have the energy to partake!
Good! Its my home town so I knew what to expect
All expenses paid trip to Manchester twice within the placement.
