About You
Very much so. A great combination of events, some more focused on enjoying and some very serious informative sessions. Everything I expected and more! The other students were all very nice, networking was great, and we were able to meet some amazing people; some of whom were very high up in the organisation.
Again, very much so! The HR knew everybody by their name, which sounds insignificant but really made me feel valued over the week. Some very senior individuals took a lot of time out of their day to talk to us and give us tips/ advice, which again indicates how valued we were as students at HSBC. Work shadowing on the trading floor was another factor that would certainly not have been allowed if I were not valued.
As much as I needed. I'm glad we were left to network etc on our own but any questions, concerns were answered very quickly. This point relates back to how well organised everything was. The week was set out very well and we were allowed to ask questions to anybody at any point during the week.
Very informative, certainly pointed me towards a particular career path which I'm sure will shape the rest of my career. I couldn't have asked for any more, and, again I can't believe how much I learnt over just four days. I expected to have to work for years to learn so much about the industry and be able to speak to such senior employees.
The Company
Incredibly well structured which was set out almost as soon as we started on the insight. A combination of talks, networking, work shadowing and some games; all very well organised and HSBC were therefore able to squeeze an incredible amount of information and activities into just four days; reflects very very well on the company!
Great atmosphere between the students on the insight although it expectedly became a little flat towards the end of the days due to the long hours, but i wouldn't ask for anything else because, again, we were provided with such an incredible amount of information over just 4 days. The HR team and other employees that spoke/ networked with us also seemed very happy and upbeat which helped lift the atmosphere throughout the day.
An impressive amount. From the food and drinks paid for, to the space in the building that we were given for a week, to the dedication of hours that senior and recent graduates to speak to us during working hours. Related back to feeling very valued by the team during the week and shows HSBC's commitment to insetting in graduates/ students.
The recent graduates and senior employees seemed very honest and certainly helped to give an insight. We were also (of course) based in the HSBC CW tower so we were able to digest the general atmosphere. Furthermore, we were given the opportunity to work shadow for half of a day which was probably the highlight of my week, and allowed me to get a real taste of life on the HSBC trading floor.
various talks and a taste for the atmosphere allowed us to understand the culture a little better. For example, there was a real emphasis on the firms global presence.
Completely invaluable! I am now very confident on the career path that I want to follow, but I also have a very good awareness of all the career paths open to me which is a huge benefit and step towards becoming a well-rounded banker. We were able to pick a division to work shadow in after 3 days- which allowed us to firstly learn more about each role and then really get a feel for the one role that we became most attracted to.
Everything Else
I live in London so there was no need for me to stay at a hotel. I believe there was an opportunity to claim travel expenses back, but I didn't.
Yes, at different points throughout the 4 day, with a range of different people. Very honest and constructive conversations, that helped inform us further to the talks, games and work shadowing.
Very constructive and informative; allowed us to ask the questions to an appropriate person and get an honest answer.
The focus of the insight was obviously on picking a career and how to get there, but there were a few times when we were told about activities that employees get involved in.
Absolutely! For just 4 days, an amazing experience where we were given an incredible amount of information.
