The Role
I enjoyed it greatly
Had a warm welcome and felt part of the team
I had a very supportive manager and also had a great buddy to turn to.
I was always busy, barely sat at my desk for a whole day
I felt after I had settled in I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility
I have learnt a great deal about working in a large food company and I can use this in my food development modules next year. I have also gained many experiences that I can use as examples in future interviews
The Company
The office was friendly and I was encouraged to take breaks with colleagues
The internship was very well organised. I was encouraged to attend as many activities as possible and also had the opportunity to arrange activities myself. The company provided a good induction at the start of the placement allowing me to begin working at my own pace within the first 2 months
I was able to ask to attend events that would help develop my skills such as presentations. In the first few weeks of placement I was trained 1:1 by my buddy to build confidence in my practical skills so I would be comfortable working on my own or with other people.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would like to come back to the company and will definitely look into job opportunities after finishing university
The Culture
There was a good mix of people and there were social events during working hours i.e. lunches. However I found that my team in particular had a tendency to stay late and not engage in social activities outside of work. The fellow placements students provided a good social scene including day trips at weekends and parties for birthdays
Socialising I found to be very expensive as I am used to Leeds student prices. The cost of living was reasonable as I paid £100 per week for a double bed en-suite room including all bills
Again I am used to the nightlife in Leeds which is much more student orientated. I found the nightlife to be good but quite overpriced.
There were many opportunities' to do activities outside work such as volunteer days and team days
