About You
The experience was very enjoyable whilst being very informative.
The team running the programme were extremely friendly and helpful which was very comforting, their attitude made working for Nomura one day a very attractive prospect.
The skills sessions on CVs, interviews and cover letters were extensive and provided helpful tips on being successful in future applications.
The programme introduced me to the process of applying to internships and future careers. I learned new skills in teamwork, networking and also learned some new information about investment banking and its diverse range of roles.
The Company
The three day period was well timetabled, organised and full of interesting activities. The time was well used and at no point was it uninteresting or tedious.
Both staff and participants were extremely enthusiastic and were a joy to be around whilst doing tasks and also socially.
The firm was very helpful in detailing what we could do to be as successful as possible in our future applications.
Although there was little actual experience in specific roles we had numerous meetings with employees who were able to tell us in detail about their roles.
Nomura was very clear in the culture and environment they wish to cultivate, this was impressive in that it was a very enjoyable place to be and I imagine a very enjoyable place to work.
The experience confirmed my decision to pursue a career in the financial sector.
Everything Else
Many opportunities to network were given at each lunch meeting. We were able to meet with employees from various divisions of the bank and make strong connections. The employees were open and engaged whilst paying an interest in us. The connections made will be very beneficial.
Networking was one of the most enjoyable expletives of the programme, it was interesting to learn about different roles within the bank, the people behind those roles and also the paths that had been taken by employees of the company to get to where they were.
Nomura detailed various sporting, academic and other activities that it offers to its employees.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It was a wonderful experience and has benefits when applying to future roles.
