The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement yeah at IBM. It taught me alot of things about the business word that you cant learn in a lecture which seems to me to be invaluable to my progression.
I felt welcomed and a part of the team through out my placement yeah. At first i feel like its down to you to break out of your shell and get to meet people. This then becomes easier to interact with others.
On a day to day basis i knew that my manager and peers were always there to give me help if needs be.
I started off with very little to do. As i progressed throughout my year I found that more work was brought to my attention. Also if you go out looking for some your guaranteed to get some. This is through either helping others or progressing a certain process to make it more efficient.
Responsibility varied. But I feel like i got alot of independence in my year because I was trusted with various reports and clients meetings that benefited my learning.
I feel that the work placement taught me more in a year then i feel i have learnt in my degree. Learning on the job and doing real life work allows you to adapt to the working life and be put on the spot.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was exactly what i expected of a global company. very busy on particular days, people making calls, meetings happening all around and the London hustle and bustle certainly added to that.
IBM have a very well organised internship process. i would expect nothing less from such a large company as they take on a lot of interns and look to make it as useful experience as possible.
They gave us the freedom to do what we want. If we put in the effort we get the rewards back, its a simple as that. As far as actual training goes, there are a couple of courses online but nothing more then that, this is an area they can improve on i feel.

Working from home
They are very appealing. There is such a vast range of different graduate roles withing different sectors, it is hard to pin down what roles you actually would like to go into.
The Culture
Drinks in London after work once a week and also Christmas and summer parties.
I lived outside of London so wasn't to bad for me but what from i heard it was very expensive.
London scene.... Enough said!!!
yeah there is always something going on. You just have to find it.
