The Role
Did not enjoy working for GE one bit, they made me feel so undervalued and felt constantly neglected by my manager. Other interns were nice and we got along well but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than work for GE again. Would urge anyone looking for a placement year to look elsewhere
As stated above I felt very undervalued and didn't feel like any of my work was really making a difference.
Zero. Saw my manager for about 10 mins every 2 months.
Not busy at all, bored out of my mind is a better way to describe it. Every 2 months that I actually saw my manager he might give me a spreadsheet to look at here and there but otherwise I had nothing to do which was very frustrating. I applied for a placement year to gain professional skill and not learn how to run down a clock.
Again zero.
Didn't learn a thing all year. To anyone reading this review please apply elsewhere, I don't want anyone to suffer as much as I did this year.
The Company
Very dull, no one ever bothers to turn up and most staff work from home. Not the ideal situation for an intern wanting to learn from others
No organisation what so ever. No plan of tasks or projects. Again a complete waste of my year.
Surprise, surprise... zero again. Gained an ITIL qualification in the first month. 2 months later my manager told me he didn't want me to apply for the graduate programme (inspiring employees aye?!). Invest in me then stopped. (I had 9 months left)
The Culture
Bristol was okay, not too costly.
