    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Volkswagen Financial Services. The company culture is amazing, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I have had so much support and training throughout the year and have developed my skills considerably. The building itself is brand new - the interior is modern, bright and clean. They're are quiet booths, refreshment hubs and an incredible canteen.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by all my colleagues not only within my reporting team but also the wider business. One project I worked on throughout my placement year here was National Customer Service week, this required a lot of time and effect. After the project had finished I received recognition from my manager and also a £50 love to shop voucher for all my efforts. The business is always finding new ways to reward and show their colleagues that they are valued. Currently we have a shining stars scheme in place where you can nominate anyone in the business who you feel has gone over an above to help.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I cannon praise my manager highly enough for all the support and guidance I have been given throughout the year. When I first started I received a two week handover period with the current undergraduate who handed over all my regular task . Since then, my manager put me forward to attend various training courses that would benefit my role and also aid my personal development. In addition, you also have monthly 1-2-1's with your line manager where you can discuss anything you feel is going well, not so well and any other business. These have been really beneficial throughout the year.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As a reporting undergraduate my busiest time periods were the first two weeks of the month as we had lots of monthly reports that needed to be sent out. For the remaining two weeks I was able to complete any other report request, ad-hoc work and projects for other stakeholders. Overall, I was kept pretty busy throughout my placement year as I had a lot of regular daily reports that took up my time, I was also given the opportunity to get involved in other work such as CRS events.
