The Role
This position has taught me a lot about work and about myself, it's been a fantastic opportunity and I've really enjoyed it. It's a very busy environment however it's taught me how to prioritise. I think I've really enjoyed the position as I've learn so much more than I would have if I had stayed in University
I feel like everyone tries really hard to ensure that you feel valued and respected, people tend to know who you are from your work colleague to the directors in the company. They all treat you as a normal member of staff which I think can be a really difficult thing in some places however this company seems to place a really high value on you and how you feel while working.
I have been given a lot of good support, every day they're advising me and teaching me new things and just making sure that I'm doing the best that I can. I have regular meetings with my direct supervisor where we go through my plans, what I need to do and what I actually can do which is brilliant.
Due to the nature of this placement I've worked on a high volume desk so positions come in all the time that need attention. You do learn a lot about how to manage your time and prioritise as you're never clock watching, there is always something you could be doing.
By the end of the placement I felt like I had a massive responsibility for some of the big accounts that we had and this taught me a lot about myself and the positions. I think that I was very well supported in this and that I was treated like a normal member of staff would be.
I think that the skills I've learnt will be with me for life, from odd facts about how organisations work to the prioritising and the time management skills that I've learnt and developed. I can see these helping me beyond my studies but especially during my third year in the degree.
