    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the placement. It was a very welcoming environment, and I eas encouraged to try new things and learn.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • A colleague once said something along the lines of "you students are massively important and the work you do really helps us out" completely out of the blue, it was a nice touch.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management and supervisors were incredible, very helpful, never lost their temper at the probably rather stupid questions asked at the beginning of the year. My supervisor has the patience of a saint.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • huge variance week to week based on customer response. Sometimes worked off my feet, sometimes able to spend days working on something completely different for fun.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in a customer facing support role, cant get much more responsibility than that. If we were good the customer had a good interaction with IBM, if we were bad it would leave a very sour taste. We were trusted with IBMs reputation to these clients in a way.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The increase in analytical thinking, troubleshooting and general fixing it will be invaluable for the rest of my career I'm sure.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very quiet, everybody going about their business, occasionally bursting into open conversation for 10 minutes, then back to work. everybody happy to help when asked.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Ran like a well oiled machine I think. training was clear and concise at the start of the year. Clear steps of what we were going to do and when.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • IBM has paid for multiple certifications for me, and would have done so for more had I desired it. The opportunities are there, but you have to be prepared to study for them.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am certainly applying to the graduate scheme.

    4/5

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • quite a lively one.
